Man United fans all say the same in response to Antony’s heroic welcome at Real Betis
Manchester United fans had a lot to say after Antony secured his permanent move to Real Betis on transfer deadline day.
After enjoying a successful loan spell with the La Liga club last term, Antony joined Betis permanently on Monday, 1 September.
The winger fell out of favour at Man United under Ruben Amorim, but notched nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances while on loan with the Spanish outfit last campaign.
Meanwhile, Amorim signed players like former Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens in a busy summer transfer window.
Before obtaining Lammens’ deadline day signature, Man United bolstered their forward line with the additions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
But while Amorim made plenty of additions amid a summer rebuild, he also had to facilitate numerous exits.
With that in mind, Jadon Sancho left Man United to join Aston Villa on deadline day, whereas Marcus Rashford went to Barcelona previously in the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Antony’s exit comes after he endured a largely disappointing career with the Old Trafford outfit after arriving from Ajax in 2022.
During his last full season with the Dutch giants, the Brazil international scored 12 goals and produced 10 assists.
However, the 25-year-old went on to score just 12 goals in 96 appearances in an underwhelming stint with the Red Devils.
Furthermore, Antony became surplus to requirements after Amorim established a wing-back system at Man United, which did not favour traditional wingers like Antony and Chelsea’s new boy Alejandro Garnacho.
Meanwhile, Amorim’s men have endured a turbulent start to the new campaign and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town.
Man United have also managed just one win from their first three fixtures in the Premier League, having been beaten by Arsenal on the opening weekend.

Man United fans react as Antony receives hero’s welcome from Real Betis supporters
After signing for Real Betis permanently, Antony was met by crowds of supporters both at the airport and on the streets of Seville.
One Man United fan commented on the footage on X: “He will flop, just wait and see”, while another said: “Found his level.”
