Man United fans back Ruben Amorim to ‘save Antony’s career’ after development

Man United fans have taken to social media to suggest that Antony could be a success in a new position under Ruben Amorim.

The 24-year-old has struggled to justify the £82million price tag Man United paid Erik ten Hag’s former club Ajax to sign him back in 2022.

With the Dutchman no longer at the club, Antony’s position is more precarious than ever as highly regarded Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim takes the helm.

Amorim enjoyed immense success at Sporting CP, largely due to his tactical acumen and preference for a 3-4-3 formation, which relied heavily on wingbacks to generate scoring opportunities.

United are relatively well-stocked on both sides, especially now that Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are set to return from lengthy injuries.

Amorim took charge of his first training session at Carrington on Monday (November 18) and had the Brazilian playing as a right wing-back while others were away on international duty.

After watching the footage fans took to X, formally known as Twitter, to discuss whether Antony would be a success in his proposed new position.
