Man United fans bid farewell to Bruno Fernandes after journalist’s update

Man United fans have started to bid farewell to Bruno Fernandes after a fresh update regarding his future at the club.

Fernandes has been one of the few bright sparks in what has been a turbulent season for Manchester United, with his influence on the pitch undeniable.

Despite the team finishing a disappointing 15th in the Premier League and missing out on European football after a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, the captain still managed to register an outstanding 39 goals and assists across 57 appearances in all competitions.

However, with no European football on the horizon and financial pressures mounting, speculation around potential exits has intensified — particularly concerning key players.

Football Insider reported that Saudi side Al Hilal are preparing a bid for Fernandes ahead of the summer transfer window. The substantial fee being discussed could tempt United into considering an offer, especially given the club’s need to balance the books.

Now, with rumours surrounding his departure gaining traction, fans have begun to brace themselves for the possibility of losing their captain, with many already posting farewell messages following the latest update on his future.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic revealed on X that Fernandes is giving “serious consideration” to Al Hilal’s proposal, with talks currently ongoing.

Despite Manchester United reportedly being “relaxed about the situation” Fernandes’ agent is in the Middle East for discussions, and the midfielder “has not ruled out” an exit from the club.

This update follows comments from former United chief scout Mick Brown, who told Football Insider that Man United could accept offers in the region of £80–100 million for Fernandes during the summer window.

The 30-year-old has been a consistent and influential figure at Old Trafford ever since his arrival. Across 290 appearances, he has produced an elite level of output, scoring 98 goals and providing 87 assists and cementing his legacy as one of the club’s most effective signings in recent years.

While Ruben Amorim remains keen to keep Fernandes at the heart of his plans, United’s ongoing financial situation may force the club to reconsider.

With increased scrutiny over Profit and Sustainability Rules, and cost-cutting already underway, the possibility of cashing in on their captain for a significant fee is being seriously considered.

Supporters have begun to come to terms with the idea of his departure. Many have even offered their backing for a potential move, with one fan commenting: “£80M for a 30-year-old is good business. Take it and run.” Another added: “I support Bruno, I think he would be giving back to the club if he moves on.”
