Man United fans destroy Harry Maguire as ‘shocking’ Crystal Palace footage drops

Man United fans are tearing into Harry Maguire after his performance in the Premier League defeat v Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s side fell to a frustrating 2-0 loss at home after two goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 64th and 89th minute.

However, the focus of the home crowd was fixed on Maguire’s role in the first goal after he switched off and was caught ball-watching rather than following the Palace striker.

Mateta was quickest to the ball to tap home after Maxence Lacroix’s header hit the crossbar for the opener – leaving fans raging at the defender.

The 31-year-old has had somewhat of a resurgence under Amorim since the boss’ arrival, becoming a stable part of a rejigged back four.

However, sections of the fanbase have remained highly critical of his performances and have exploded once more after his role in another home defeat.

United have won just one of their last six Premier League games at Old Trafford, and this time it was Palace’s turn to capitalise on their inconsistency.

Another three points for the Eagles have also seen them leapfrog United in the table, rising to 12th while the hosts dropped to 13th.

Harry Maguire slammed after what he did in Man United defeat v Crystal Palace

Maguire had been set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season, but the decision was made to trigger an option to extend his deal by one year.

This comes amid plenty of uncertainty at Old Trafford and Amorim is expected to bring in new additions to his side before the 3 February deadline and in the summer.

Following the defeat to Palace, supporters took to social media to slam Maguire’s performance after footage of the goal emerged, as he was labelled “shocking” and “terrible”, with many calling for him to be dropped.
