Man United fans are insisting Diogo Dalot should never play for the club again after his “shocking” miss during the clash with West Ham.
Erik ten Hag’s side fell to a late 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium after goals from Crysencio Summerville and Casemiro before Jarrod Bowen’s 92nd-minute penalty won it for the hosts.
However, it was the right-back who grabbed the headlines and the attention of the fans as he blazed the ball over when presented with an open goal.
Played through on goal, Dalot beat the onrushing Lukasz Fabianski to the ball and showed great composure to flick it over him, before bizarrely smashing the ball over the bar with the net gaping.
The travelling Man United supporters could not believe what they had seen from the 25-year-old and were left open-mouthed after the shocking miss.
Dalot’s miss was the tale of the game for a United side who, presented with plenty of opportunities, lacked any cutting edge in front of goal.
As a result, supporters have been left raging at Dalot, who had a golden opportunity to fire his side ahead before the half-time break.
Ultimately, the miss cost United dearly in the defeat and they have now won just one of their last eight games across all competitions.
