Man United fans: Harry Maguire out for ‘months’ as Aston Villa footage emerges
Man United fans believe Harry Maguire will be ruled out for “months” after picking up an injury against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Erik ten Hag’s side turned in a strong defensive display away from home, but could not find their touch in the final third as they were held to a 0-0 draw.
However, the impressive back-line performance in the first half was overshadowed by Maguire limping off the pitch on the stroke of half-time.
The 31-year-old was assisted off the pitch by two of United’s medical staff as new footage showed, amid concerns that he may have suffered a long-term blow.
He was replaced by Matthijs de Ligt for the second half despite the summer signing having been dropped to the bench after multiple unconvincing defensive displays.
Footage during the game saw Maguire pull up nobody around him, while new images showed he was struggling to put any weight on the leg when walking off of the pitch.
One fan went as far as to suggest the club is “cursed”, with one of their most in-form players seemingly now ruled out for an extended period.
Man United fans ‘gutted’ by Harry Maguire injury blow v Aston Villa
Maguire has featured eight times for United so far this season, and played himself back into Ten Hag’s starting XI with his performance against Porto in the Champions League.
It was his late header which snatched a point in Portugal, and his first-half display against Villa showed more of the same for his upturn in form before he suffered the blow.
After he was shown limping off the pitch, fans have taken to social media to speculate about the extent of his injury, with many raising worst-case-scenario ideas.
Some even went as far as to express fears that the defender may have suffered an issue with his cruciate ligament.
In other news, United’s plan to hold Max Allegri talks have been revealed.
