Man United fans rage at ‘betrayal’ as David de Gea responds to manager news
Man United fans have been left divided by David de Gea’s seemingly subtle dig at Erik ten Hag after he parted ways with the club on Monday (28 October).
The 54-year-old’s time in charge at Old Trafford ended following their latest defeat at the hands of West Ham, and the football world has been reacting ever since.
That includes former United goalkeeper De Gea, who posted a pinched fingers emoji after the news broke.
The Spain international’s time at United ended during Ten Hag’s reign in charge, as the Dutchman opted to switch up his goalkeeping options by replacing De Gea with Andre Onana.
De Gea then spent a season without a football club before signing for Serie A side Fiorentina, where he’s been able to get his career back on track.
However, the shot-stopped didn’t appear overly upset or sympathetic about Ten Hag losing his job when he reacted to the news.
Man United fans are split on their feelings about David de Gea’s comments
De Gea’s comments have divided United supporters in terms of how they feel about him expressing his thoughts in this way.
Some fans were quick to point out that they felt Ten Hag treated the goalkeeper poorly and that he’s entitled to share his opinions.
Other supporters weren’t on De Gea’s side and felt that his post showed a lack of respect, as they backed the former manager for axing him in the first place.
In other news, Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou ‘could be next Premier League manager sacked.’
