Man United fans rage at VAR drama vs Burnley – ‘Corrupt’

Man United fans on social media are outraged that their side was not awarded a penalty during their 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday afternoon (27 April).

The Red Devils continued their trend of conceding late goals with the Clarets scoring a last-gasp penalty to steal a point.

Following a slow start to the game, Antony broke the deadlock in the second half and it looked as though Erik ten Hag’s side would escape with three points and a clean sheet.

However, Andre Onana clumsily clashed into Zeki Amdouni in the final minutes of the match and the Burnley forward drew his side level by scoring from the spot.

United felt they should have had a penalty kick of their own earlier in the match when Alejandro Garnacho was challenged by Sander Berge inside the box in the first half.

However, VAR sided with referee John Brooks and cleared the challenge after viewing several replays.

United supporters on social media slammed the decision with some fans even claiming it was “corrupt”.

United remain sixth in the Premier League table after their draw to Vincent Kompany’s side – six points off Tottenham in fifth.

Ten Hag’s side return to action next Monday (6 May) when they travel to high-flying Crystal Palace.
