Man United fans rip into Gary Neville after his Ten Hag claim live on air

Man United fans have labelled Gary Neville “tone deaf” after his latest comments about Erik ten Hag’s future.

The 49-year-old was speaking to Sky Sports when he claimed there was “An element of relief because he keeps the wolves at bay” while expressing that no United fan wants Ten Hag to be fired.

The former United and England right-back believes that the goalless draw before the international break bought the Dutchman some time at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has been under pressure at the Premier League giants since last season’s disappointment, which has continued into this campaign.

The 20-time champions opted to back Ten Hag during the summer by giving him a one-year contract extension, while the club also financially backed him in the transfer market.

However, United currently sit 14th in the Premier League table after the opening seven games and have also failed to win either of their two opening Europa League fixtures.

Man United fans question Gary Neville’s comments

Football Insider revealed that United’s hierarchy are set to have a meeting during the international break to discuss Ten Hag’s future at the football club.

Well-placed sources also told Football Insider that Ruud van Nistelrooy is in the running to replace him and would be interested in the position.

However, Neville is continuing to publicly back Ten Hag, which has led to fans claiming that United’s standards are “all over the place.”
