Man United fans threaten protest as Ten Hag sack update emerges

Man United fans have threatened to protest as fresh reports claim Gareth Southgate is a serious option to replace Erik ten Hag.

The future of Ten Hag has been up in the air since the end of the season, with INEOS’ plans to replace the boss delayed after he led his team to a win in the FA Cup final.

However, the Independent reported that the delays over Ten Hag’s sacking are due to the owners prioritising Gareth Southgate as his replacement, with the England boss unwilling to discuss his future until after the Euros.

England’s campaign kicks off against Serbia on 16 June, with the final set to take place on 14 July, meaning United will have to wait an entire month if England reach the final.

United have also been linked with former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino and ex-Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, but Southgate now appears to be the favourite.

As a result, many groups of fans have suggested they could protest against INEOS and give up season tickets if Southgate is appointed, with one fan labelling the decision a “disgrace”.

In other news, Man City could receive a “sizeable” payment from the Premier League.
