Man United fans will ‘go ballistic’ as ‘big’ takeover problem emerges – pundit
Man United fans will “go ballistic” if the Glazers don’t sell the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie is surprised tensions have not “boiled over already”.
Back in November the Glazer family announced that they would be exploring financial options that could include an outright sale of the club.
But almost eight months later and fans are still waiting for an outcome.
Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the frontrunners in the process but the owners are yet to name a preferred bidder.
Fans have been unhappy with the delay and have made their feelings for the Glazers known with protests throughout the season.
Most recently, fans blocked the entrance to the United megastore on the day of their new kit launch last week (27 June) in their latest stand against the protracted takeover saga.
Manager Erik ten Hag is also suffering with the delayed process and has reportedly been told that he will have to work within a limited budget this summer unless he can ship out players to use the funds for new signings.
McAvennie insisted United chiefs should be worried about the fans.
“I think the biggest problem at Man United is that the fans are going to go ballistic if the owners do not sell the club,” he told Football Insider.
“I am surprised it has not boiled over already.

“If they [the Glazers] want to keep control the fans are surely not going to accept that.
“Maybe they do not want to spend money at the moment in case they are going to get bought over.“
