Man United fans ‘won’t be happy’ with the top contender to replace Ruben Amorim as manager
Man United fans will want a manager who brings a little bit of “flair” when the club inevitably choose to move on from Ruben Amorim.
That is according to Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively his thoughts on links suggesting Gareth Southgate could take over at Man United.
Amorim is coming under increasing pressure at Old Trafford, and Brentford’s comfortable 3-1 dispatching of Man United has only heightened suggestions that he will be on his way out in the near future.
Talk has turned to which coach could take over from the former Sporting CP manager, with Southgate‘s name cropping up.
The former England manager has been out of work since leaving his post in charge of the Three Lions in 2024, and previously rejected a move to Old Trafford prior to Erik ten Hag being given the job.

Gareth Southgate ‘too predictable’ says Matt Le Tissier
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Southampton striker Le Tissier dismissed the idea of Southgate taking charge at Old Trafford.
The ex-Three Lion revealed that he thought the 55-year-old lacked flair and was “too predictable” for the role.
Le Tissier said: “A lot of talk that perhaps Ruben Amorim’s time at Manchester United is coming to a close, talk has started to divert to who should be the best manager at Manchester United.

“I noticed today there was a bit of talk about Gareth Southgate being a favourite for the job. Now, I’m not sure that the Man United fans will be too happy with that.
“Quite frankly, I think they want somebody with a little bit more flair in their management, perhaps Gareth’s team are a little too predictable for me.“
A large section of fans will likely agree a damning, but fair, assessment of the former England manager,
Marco Silva may be the perfect candidate for Man United
The Red Devils, should they fire Amorim, will likely be in the market for a young coach with Premier League experience, an ability to adapt his tactics to best suit his players, and a proven pedigree of beating the best sides the division has to offer.
For those reasons, Man United should look no further than Marco Silva. The Portuguese boss was suggested by Dan Ashworth before his sacking.

This means that Fulham‘s manager is on the club’s radar, and for good reason. The 48-year-old has turned the Whites from relegation fodder into a European challenger on a shoestring budget, regularly beating the best the Premier League has to offer.
Silva has plenty of experience in the division, and having worked with plenty of Brazilian players during his time at Craven Cottage, certainly knows a thing or two about “flair”.
