‘Man United given green light ahead of Bryan Mbeumo transfer at Brentford’

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is one of the most sought-after wingers in the Premier League, and Man United could now be set to seal his signature.

At just 25 years of age, the Cameroon international has 18 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions, quickly becoming the main figure after Ivan Toney’s departure.

With the Bees rising to ninth in the Premier League table, Thomas Frank has been linked with replacing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, and rightly so following his team’s performances this season.

However, with the number of talented managers available or in need of a new challenge, that will not be the club’s biggest worry this summer. That falls to the potential departure of star forward Mbeumo.

Man United to win the race for Bryan Mbeumo this summer

Football Insider understands that, despite multiple links to Anfield, Liverpool have now cooled their interest in Mbeumo after Mohamed Salah penned a new deal on Merseyside.

That still leaves Arsenal and Man United, however, with many of the “top-six” clubs keeping tabs on the talented winger throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

Mick Brown, a former chief scout at Old Trafford, told Football Insider that Man United are eyeing a move for Mbeumo, even despite concerns that he will slow Amad Diallo’s development.

Ruben Amorim will be keen to add more attackers to his squad ahead of next season, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to make a positive impact, while Brown has told Football Insider a Chelsea offer for Alejandro Garnacho would be accepted, and the club may have just been given the green light.

Christian Norgaard’s new confession speaks volumes at Brentford

Speaking to Sky Sports (6 May), Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, asked about his teammate’s future at the Gtech Community Stadium, said: “I think Bryan is likely to go.”

“I’m pretty calm about what will happen with Bryan and [Yoane] Wissa. A lot of questions are asked about them, and you can almost feel the worries around the players when you talk about them maybe leaving us.”

The players in Frank’s squad already appear to have come to terms with Mbeumo’s impending exit, with big-name stars often moving on, such as Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma, and Toney in recent years.

If Amorim needed any sign to persuade the Man United boardroom to splash the cash on the Brentford star, this is the best he is going to get ahead of the summer transfer window as the door appears to be wide open for him.
