‘Man United in the driving seat to agree Bryan Mbeumo deal ahead of Tottenham’
Manchester United are “in the driving seat” to agree a deal for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Man United reportedly submitted a bid of £45million plus £10million in add-ons earlier this month that was rejected by the Bees.
Football Insider revealed on 13 June Tottenham could hijack United’s move to sign Mbeumo following Thomas Frank’s appointment as manager.
Frank’s arrival has added to the belief that Spurs could secure the 25-year-old’s signature despite him previously preferring a move to Old Trafford.
Tottenham could be boosted by their Champions League qualification, while United have no European football to offer the Cameroon international for next season.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he believes Mbeumo will still make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
It is believed Brentford will hold out for a fee of around £60-65million for the forward, who registered 20 goals and nine assists in 42 appearances in the 2024-25 season.

Tottenham could match Man United’s Bryan Mbuemo offer
Borson insisted United still appear to be “in the driving seat” to sign Mbeumo.
He told Football Insider: “I think you look at it two ways.
“First of all, all the people that do know about transfers, they say that United are still very much in the driving seat on the transaction.
“United don’t seem to have been particularly perturbed to the point where they’ve rushed around to do a deal. They seem very relaxed, so I would think he still ends up at United.
“But if you look at it, there’s quite a lot to be said for a Tottenham transfer. They have got Champions League, he’s got a manager he knows really well, and he wouldn’t have to move house.
“I suspect that Spurs can match Manchester United’s wages given that they do have Champions League football next season and given that United are trying to bring the whole cost base all the way down.
“I suspect that he wants to go to United, but I think there’s quite a lot to be said for him moving to Spurs right now.
“If he really has a very good relationship with Thomas Frank, then I don’t think it’s impossible that he could choose Spurs.
“I still think he’s likely to go to Manchester United.”

Man United ringing Emiliano Martinez every day to agree deal
In terms of another potential incoming at Old Trafford, Football Insider revealed on 20 June United are pushing to agree a deal for Emiliano Martinez with Aston Villa.
Sources say Ruben Amorim’s side have been in regular contact with the 32-year-old and are “ringing him every day” to get a deal over the line in the coming weeks.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 19 June Martinez has his heart set on Atletico Madrid, who recently joined the race for his signature.
