Man United Insider: This is who to blame for Ruben Amorim’s sacking, he was ‘sick of it’
Ruben Amorim has become a scapegoat for the consistent failures of the board and ownership at Man United following his dismissal.
That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade and remains very well-connected there, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 40-year-old was right to call out the decision-makers.
Amorim was sacked by Man United following a press conference outburst in which he called into question the board’s backing and influence since his arrival.
A series of controversial decisions during their tenure have underlined what has been a turbulent period, and the manager had grown “sick” of their influence.
Despite struggling to a 1-1 draw with Leeds last time out, Amorim had shown positive signs at United this year, and his dismissal has only come as a result of off-field issues.

Ruben Amorim sacked by Man United after board call-out
Brown told Football Insider in May that Amorim was unhappy with some of INEOS’ decisions, with controversy seemingly constantly underpinning his tenure.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely alongside elite-level managers including both Ron Atkinson and Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, insisted that the boss had finally grown tired of the lack of backing.
“To be honest, I’m surprised they made the decision,” he told Football Insider.
“These things often happen in an attempt to mask something else that’s going on, so in this case the manager has questioned their decisions.
“He came out in the press conference, made his position clear, and hinted that there may have been promises broken or disagreements, but nobody’s talking about that now.
“They’re all talking about him being sacked and who the next manager might be.
“As far as I see it, there are problems behind the scenes there and Amorim was sick of it.
“The board too often get away with these decisions, at times some outright lies, and they’ve gotten away with murder with some of the things they’ve done.

“Look at the results this season, they’ve been largely positive overall. Even against Wolves and Leeds, those are games they would’ve lost last season.
“They’re high up the table, definitely looking more confident and structured, and yet now is the time they decide they want to sack the manager.
“The only reason to sack Amorim at this stage was just to save face because he had enough of things that were taking place behind the scenes, and I can’t blame him.”
Who will become the next Man United manager?
After Amorim’s dismissal, Darren Fletcher has taken over at Man United on an interim basis while they begin their search for a new permanent boss.
Brown told Football Insider on 5 January that Fletcher is the perfect option for Man United on a short-term basis, backing him to galvanise the squad and the fans.
However, more high-profile managers are being assessed for the role, with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner the outstanding candidate as things stand.

Glasner’s contract at Selhurst Park is set to expire at the end of the season, which would free him up to join United, and they could appoint a caretaker in the meantime.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 6 January that Michael Carrick is an option for Man United, who could arrive alongside Fletcher in a short-term role.
