Kieran Maguire: Man United are jealous of Tottenham and two new confirmed appointments prove it
Man United are “envious” of the cash Tottenham generate on the concourses – and their plans to revamp Old Trafford prove it.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Glazers’ plans for the 75,000-capacity stadium.
United announced yesterday (14 April) that they have appointed a team of consultants with the aim of “significantly enhancing the fan experience.”

The group will begin work immediately and is spearheaded by two leading agencies, Legends International and Populous.
Tottenham have not yet had a full season of matchday income from their new stadium, with Covid limiting its earning potential thus far.
But Maguire told this site in November last year that he expects them to earn approximately £120million annually from the 63,000-capacity arena.
A major chunk of that figure will come from catering and Untied will want to mirror their North London rivals’ success in that area, insists Maguire.
“Man United will be envious of the £800,000 per match that Tottenham generate from catering,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“The reason they are not ticking those boxes is that there is no incentive to get to the ground early or stay after in terms of the fan experience.
“But somewhere like Spurs, there are big concourses and it’s a nice place to mingle.
“Every 10 to 15 minutes you’ve got fans in the stadium is an extra 10 to 15 minutes they are spending money, so it all adds up.”

United are currently six points behind Spurs in the race for the top four.
Ralf Rangnick’s side take on Norwich City tomorrow (16 April), while Antonio Conte’s are in action at Brighton.
