Man United leave Kieran Maguire ‘surprised’ by new financial reveal
It is “surprising” that Man United are still considered the most valuable club in the world despite their recent lack of success.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that United’s world-topping stat is a “testament to the Premier League” and its popularity as a competition.
According to a study compiled by Sportico, United are the most valuable club in world football with a value of £4.92billion.
Spanish duo Real Madrid (£4.83bn) and Barcelona (£4.2bn) follow closely behind with Liverpool the second-most valuable English club at £4bn.
United top the charts despite their lack of on-pitch success, with the club last winning the Premier League in 2013.
Man United world-topping stat stuns Kieran Maguire
Maguire admitted that he was surprised at United’s value but believes it is a testament to the Premier League’s reach compared to rival European leagues.
“I think it is surprising to see Manchester United being valued by Sportico as the most valuable football club in the world,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“I think it’s a testament to the reach of the Premier League.
“Compared to Real Madrid, who compete in the Champions League every year, Manchester United’s recent history has been spotty to put it mildly.
“It has certainly been far below the expectations of United’s global fan base.

“It is, however, testament to the fact that Manchester United is such a globally recognised brand and is playing in what is considered to be a far more competitive product than La Liga.
“Ultimately, that is why they have been valued at such a high figure.“
