Man United make Andre Onana transfer decision after what Senne Lammens did vs Everton

Man United will attempt to sell on-loan goalkeeper Andre Onana this summer, with Trabzonspor unlikely to make his stay permanent.

The 29-year-old arrived from Inter Milan in a deal worth almost £50million less than three years ago, but his time at Old Trafford has been disastrous.

The Cameroon international made several high-profile mistakes in his two years in the Premier League, and was eventually dropped by Ruben Amorim.

TalkSPORT reports that Onana is set to return to Old Trafford this summer, with Man United keen to move him on permanently.

The Red Devils’ goalkeeper issues have been quelled by the form of summer arrival Senne Lammens, who cost around £18m from Royal Antwerp.

Senne Lammens stuns vs Everton

There was not much known about Lammens when Man United him at the end of the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper was highly rated in Belgium, and was seen as a certain talent for the future.

His first three games were spent on the bench as Altay Bayindir looked to stake his place for the starting role, but when Lammens was brought in against Sunderland in October, Man United did not look back.

The Belgian has started every Premier League game since, and despite some shaky moments, has been a reliable presence in between the sticks.

Lammens was key as Man United beat Everton 1-0 on Monday night, making a brilliant, diving save to keep out a long-distance Michael Keane effort as the visitors held on.

The Premier League clean sheet was only his fifth of the season, but Man United can put many of the points they have won down to his presence.

What Fatih Tekke said about Andre Onana will not surprise

Onana’s loan to Turkey has been a mixed bag. The goalkeeper has enjoyed some brilliant performances, including one against Gaziantep FK on Sunday, in which he made six saves.

But there have been a fair share of terrible showings as well. After the 29-year-old had a shaky performance in a dramatic 3-3 draw with Besiktas in December, Trabzonspor manager Fatih Tekke criticised him.

“I have been warning André for two weeks; he is someone we like, and he knows this,” he said.

“He is one of the best when the ball is at his feet, but football requires immense attention. Moments are critical.

“Last week he made two risky moves. He can break down the opponent, but a single mistake could have led to a very different outcome today.”
