Man United make Ben Chilwell transfer decision – sources

Man United have rejected the chance to sign Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell, sources have told Football Insider.

Chelsea offered the 27-year-old left-back to their Premier League rivals as they seek to offload multiple players before the end of the transfer window.

United have knocked the Londoners back as they believe they have enough cover on the left side of their defence with Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and youngster Harry Amass.

The two clubs could still be in business with each other before the end of the transfer window as they both seek to shift some deadwood.

Football Insider revealed (August 26) that they could agree a sensational swap deal featuring Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling.

Injury problems have plagued Chilwell’s Chelsea career, missing 445 days due to various problems since joining the West London club back in 2020.

Last season he was named vice-captain by his ex-manager Mauricio Pochettino but has since been deemed surplus to requirements by his successor Enzo Maresca.

Chilwell is now training away from Chelsea’s first team as the club seeks to recoup at least some of the £50 million they spent to sign him.

Football Insider revealed (August 20) that Chelsea are ready to accept a “significant” offer for left-back Ben Chilwell before the 30 August transfer deadline.
