Man United make significant Tyrell Malacia decision as future becomes clearer

Tyrell Malacia has been named in Manchester United’s official squad for the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Man United boss Ruben Amorim utilised the summer transfer window to offload unwanted players, as Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea.

The Red Devils also facilitated the exits of Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Marcus Rashford.

Contrastingly, Man United struggled to offload Malacia, who is now set to remain in the North West for the top-flight season.

Alongside the departures of players such as Rashford and Sancho, Man United signed stars like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

However, despite not featuring for the Old Trafford side since before his loan move to PSV Eindhoven last winter, Malacia is set to remain in the North West.

Meanwhile, Man United face rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their next Premier League game on Sunday, 14 September.

Tyrell Malacia situation is a concern for Ruben Amorim

After Man United finished just 15th in the Premier League last season, facilitating necessary departures was equally important to Amorim this summer as acquiring fresh talent.

The Red Devils have done well to see the back of players like Antony, who failed to produce his best football in the North West despite dazzling while on loan with his new club, Real Betis.

Meanwhile, the fact that Malacia remains at Old Trafford, despite Amorim’s desire to offload him, is a non-ideal situation for all parties involved.

Retaining the unwanted 26-year-old defender could distract Man United from achieving their goal of enjoying a significantly better season than the one they endured last term.

The Old Trafford outfit can heavily boost their morale by defeating local rivals Manchester City on 14 September, before facing another tough encounter against Chelsea on 20 September.

However, Malacia appears unlikely to feature in either game, despite remaining in the North West for now.
