‘Man United may cancel summer transfer plans’ amid new PSR bombshell
Man United made just one January move amid significant financial challenges at Old Trafford, adding young left-back Patrick Dorgu to Ruben Amorim’s squad.
In January, the club wrote to fans warning they are at risk of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – meaning ticket prices could rise as a result.
United have made a loss of £370million over the past five years – losing £113.2million alone in the year to 30 June 2024.
On the pitch, Amorim’s side are also struggling and sit 15th in the Premier League table with 13 games of the season to play.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on a potential blow for Man United in the upcoming summer window.

Man United ‘have nothing to sell’ to fund summer business, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness warned Man United have no “bargaining chips” which would allow them to make significant summer changes.
Aston Villa are also among the clubs struggling to comply with PSR despite their successful participation in the Champions League this term.
But Wyness insisted Unai Emery has much more quality in his squad – potentially allowing them to get out of danger.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “A club like Villa have quality in the squad that United haven’t got.
“United have got nothing in terms of bargaining chips they can get rid of to allow them to buy.

“There are some issues with United and they are the club I’m watching in terms of PSR.
“If the summer comes off the back of a bad season, then you could see a spiral at Old Trafford as the pressure builds on Amorim and the squad.
“The fans won’t stand for this. Man United could be facing a tricky time.”

Man United to chase Delap deal this summer
Despite their financial concerns, Football Insider has been told by ex-United chief scout Mick Brown that Amorim’s side have a “clear plan” to sign the best young talent from across the world.
As part of that vision, Man United and Chelsea are both keen on Ipswich Town star Liam Delap.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye of top Premier League sides with his performances for the Tractor Boys this term – scoring 10 top-flight goals.
