Man United news: Expert issues ‘honest’ verdict on Marcus Rashford joining Arsenal after Romano update

Marcus Rashford is “not the answer” for Arsenal and the club should steer clear of the Man United forward this summer.

That is the view of former Gunners and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about potential suitors for the 24-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano (7 March), Rashford is considering his future at Old Trafford after a concerning lack of game time this season.

However, the forward, widely regarded as one of the biggest names and talents in English football, was given the nod to start by Ralf Rangnick in United’s 3-2 win over Tottenham on Saturday.

Rashford’s contract with the Red Devils is due to expire in the summer of 2023, although the club do have a 12-month extension option on his deal.

When asked if he would welcome the England international’s arrival at the Emirates, Campbell told Football Insider: “I cannot see it, to be totally honest with you.

“I understand the rumours but Marcus Rashford is Manchester United through and through. He is young and talented England international, why would he leave United?

“Arsenal have [Gabriel] Martinelli, [Buyako] Saka and [Emile] Smith Rowe doing the business. Get another one in to challenge them? I just don’t see it.

“Yes, Arsenal need a striker but Rashford’s not a number nine, definitely not. He’s not the answer to the striker situation either.”

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to sign at least one striker this summer.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are set to leave at the end of their contracts this summer.
