Man United news: Kieran Maguire hails new deal after agreement reached

Man United will continue to strike lucrative commercial deals such as their new £5million airline deal despite their lack of on-pitch success.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that United’s ability to “monetise their badge” is “unparalleled”.

The Manchester giants announced in March that they have struck a multi-year deal with Malaysia Airlines as the club’s Official Commercial Airline partner.

United have not had an airline sponsor since ending their partnership with Russian-based Aeroflot in 2022 and it is understood that the deal will be worth £5million per season.

United’s 2022-23 accounts revealed that the club generated commercial revenue of £303million.

Maguire explained that United’s latest sponsorship deal reaffirms comments made by former CEO Ed Woodward that the club can be an off-pitch success regardless of results.

Manchester United’s ability to monetise their badge is unparalleled as far as football is concerned,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Everybody wants a slice of the pie, and companies are eager to have their name associated with the brand.

To paraphrase former CEO Ed Woodward, Manchester United do not have to be winning football matches to be successful off the pitch.

That is what we are seeing here and a £5million deal of this kind is good for all parties involved.
