Man United news: Paul Pogba sends message after surprise twist

Paul Pogba took to social media to send a message to fans after the former Man United midfielder’s doping ban was reduced.

The 31-year-old received a four-year ban from football after testing positive for DHEA, a substance that promoted the production of testosterone in the body.

The Frenchman was banned by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (Nado) in February but he strongly denied “knowingly or deliberately taking any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations”

Pogba appealed the lengthy ban, and CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) ruled in his favour, reducing the ban to just 18 months, including what he has already served.

Still employed by Juventus, the World Cup winner can return to first-team training at the Italian giants in January before potentially returning to the squad in March.

Former Man United star Paul Pogba wins ban appeal

Pogba re-joined Juventus after being released by Man United back in 2022 but only managed to make 12 appearances for the club before receiving his ban.

The central-midfielder has reportedly been on minimum wage at the Italian club since the ordeal, making just £ 1700 per month, a vast reduction from his previous £10.4million per year salary.

Re-signed from Juventus for £89million back in 2016, the Man United academy product remains the club’s most expensive signing.

Pogba took to Instagram to tease fans with his return and let them know he is working hard to get back to his best.

Things haven’t improved much for Man United since Pogba left the club, they’re currently sitting in 13th with two wins, one draw, and three defeats from their opening six Premier League games, leaving Erik ten Hag in a precarious position.

They next face a tricky visit from an in-form Aston Villa and Jhon Duran who are riding the high of their impressive 1-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday (October 2).
