Man United news: Pundit allays £51.2m Antony concerns as agents fly in to seal move

Kevin Campbell has insisted he has no concerns about Ajax winger Antony’s ability to adapt to the Premier League as a Man United move draws closer.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed new boss Erik ten Hag “won’t be daunted” at the prospect of bringing the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.

According to Goal (9 June), Antony’s representatives have jetted into England in order to put the finishing touches on Ten Hag’s first summer addition since taking charge at Man United.

The report claims the final deal could be worth €60million (£51.2million).

Antony notched 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions in the 2021-22 season as Ajax lifted the league title.

Campbell suggested the Brazil international is capable of emulating other Eredivisie imports such as Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie.

“You have to take that step up from the Eredivisie to the Premier League into consideration,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“But Ten Hag likes the tried and tested route, he’ll want to work with players who know his system.

“As far as I’m concerned, Antony has played really well recently at Ajax. He’s a really good player.

“I don’t think Ten Hag will be daunted at all by that step up – he knows Antony can make the step up.

“It’s gonna be interesting to see what happens with him, but he’s a top player.”

Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020.

Man United will play Europa League football in the 2022-23 campaign.
