Man United news: Pundit ‘amazed’ by star putting Marcus Rashford in ‘position he doesn’t want to be in’

Anthony Elanga has put Marcus Rashford in “a position he doesn’t want to be in” at Man United, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the “amazing” Elanga, 19, who is now “ahead of” Rashford, 24, in the pecking order.

Rashford has failed to nail down a starting spot at Old Trafford under Ralf Rangnick.

However, speaking to club media (4 March), Rangnick backed the England international to rediscover his best form.

The German manager highlighted Rashford’s “abundant talent” in what was a glowing reference.

When asked for his thoughts on Rashford’s form, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “It’s been a very stop-start season for Rashford.

“He has not had the opportunity to get going at all. He is in a position he doesn’t want to be in. When he does get in the side he is trying too hard to impress. That is not working to him at the moment.

“Elanga has been amazing. I like what I have seen from him. In January, he could have been loaned out but he decided to stay.

“The decision is paying dividends because he is ahead of Marcus Rashford now.”

Speaking on Rashford, Rangnick said: “He’s got abundant talent, he’s got the pace, the physicality.

“He’s got everything you need for a modern striker, not only if he is playing from the wing or in the centre.”
