Man United news: Pundit shares 'massive' Christian Eriksen claim after offer submitted

Man United are in with a chance of signing Christian Eriksen after offering him a contract.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Eriksen’s next club.

On Tuesday (14 June) The Athletic reported Man United have made an offer to sign the 30-year-old as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his midfield options.

According to the BBC (11 June), Brentford are keen to keep hold of Eriksen despite the midfielder appearing on the club’s released list – which was announced that day.

While he claims the Red Devils have a chance, Kenny claims the club may lose out on signing him to a club that can offer Champions League football.

“If a club comes in that are in the Champions League, that will hamper Man United,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sure they are in with a chance, it all depends on Eriksen and what he wants to do.

“Being in the Champions League is massive and it just shows how important it is to get into that top-four.

“There will be a lot of competition for his signature and maybe Man United aren’t the most attractive club.

“We just don’t know, we don’t know what Eriksen is thinking. I just think the Champions League plays a role.”

Eriksen scored once and chipped in with four assists for Brentford during the 2021-22 season.

He joined the Bees in January after recovering from his collapse at Euro 2020.
