Man United now want to sign the ‘next Moises Caicedo’ as timeframe emerges for deal
Manchester United are lining up a deal to sign their own version of Moises Caicedo ahead of the January transfer window.
The Chelsea midfielder was signed for a then-British record fee of £115million when he joined from Brighton in the summer of 2023, after he became another unknown star to make a name for himself with the Seagulls.
Caicedo is currently serving a suspension for Chelsea after he was sent off during their draw with Arsenal at the end of November, although he was able to feature in the Champions League in midweek.
The Ecuadorian has developed into one of the Premier League’s most impressive talents since his move to Stamford Bridge, and Manchester United are now trying to repeat the trick that Brighton initially pulled off.

Man United chase move for Ederson Castillo
Football Insider revealed back in September that Real Madrid were interested in signing Caicedo, such have been the quality of his displays for Chelsea.
The 24-year-old is still in just his fourth full campaign of Premier League football, but he is already being linked with a move to one of the world’s richest clubs.
Brighton plucked the midfielder from Independiente del Valle back in 2021, and United are now trying to replicate that move with another of Ecuador’s brightest young talents.
The Red Devils have joined the race for 16-year-old LDU Quito midfielder Ederson Castillo, according to Bolavip.
He has made just six senior appearances for the capital club, but was recently part of the group that won Ecuador’s U19 title.
Castillo has already been compared to Caicedo by El Futbolero, with his potential in the game deemed as being similar to that of the Chelsea man.
United are facing competition from Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Anderlecht for the starlet, who is unable to move to Europe until he turns 18.
Old Trafford will already welcome one new South American youngster next summer
Manchester United agreed to sign Cristian Orozco earlier this season, as they prepare to welcome another South American youngster into their ranks next summer.
The Colombian signed a pre-contract agreement to move to the Premier League back in October, but the deal cannot be fully completed until July.
Orozco is another hugely promising talent from a region of South America that has produced countless world-class stars over the years.
United have plenty of targets to pursue at first-team level in the January window, but it now appears that they are keen to make an effort to bolster their ranks for the future as well.
