Revealed: Man United to make £610m announcement as paperwork filed

Man United are on course to announce annual revenue of £590-610million, Football Insider analysis shows.

The club’s second quarter accounts for the three months up to 31 December 2022 outline its turnover projection and its forecasted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization), which is £125-140m.

The Red Devils’ profit for the quarter totalled £6.3m – up from a £1.3m loss in the same quarter last year – and their debt remains unchanged at £650m.

Broadcast revenue is down as a result of the club’s participation in the Europa League rather than the more lucrative Champions League this season.

Matchday also income fell, although that was due to fewer games being played at Old Trafford in the quarter because of the mid-season World Cup in Qatar.

Commercial revenue, however, rose by 22 per cent as the club reaped the rewards of several new blue-chip sponsorship deals.

There were also record sales of hospitality and membership tickets, a revenue stream which will soar when the club carries through with plans to expand Old Trafford or build a new stadium entirely.

The financials will be encouraging for the Qatari consortium led by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani as well as fellow takeover suitor Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has made a bid for United through his Ineos petrochemicals company.

Elliott Management, a US-based investment firm, has also submitted a proposal to the Glazer family to finance a deal on behalf of a third party.

There is also a real possibility that Joel and Avram Glazer could use external funds to buy out their siblings and pay for infrastructure upgrades at the club.
