Man United open talks over £20m deal – sources
Man United are in talks to extend their pre-season tour of the United States this summer with senior figures wanting the trip to generate £20million in revenue, sources have told Football Insider.
It follows a decision made by the Premier League and FA to scrap FA Cup replays and extend the length of the summer break for top-flight clubs.
The 2024-25 season is set to start on August 17 with the Community Shield taking place at Wembley Stadium one week prior on August 10.
The Red Devils are aiming to bank a total of £20million from their tour ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Talks are underway with multiple clubs to schedule additional friendly matches in the US, while negotiations are also ongoing with potential sponsorships and venues.
Man United in talks over US deal with £20m plan revealed
United are not expected to take part in an organised tournament while out in the US and will instead look to find individual sponsors to endorse one-off games around the country.
They have already announced friendly matches against Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.
Erik ten Hag’s side will take on Arsenal on 27 July in Los Angeles before flying to South Carolina to face Liverpool on 3 August.

Senior figures at United are aware that revenue raised in the 2024-25 accounting period will contribute to their budget under new financial rules.
New regulations will be introduced in 2025 that cap spending on wages and transfer fees to 85 per cent of overall revenue.
