Man United ‘plan to accept Mason Mount offer’ after Michael Carrick verdict

Man United are prepared to accept offers for Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window as he is not part of their plans for the future.

Despite having been a favourite of Ruben Amorim’s, the 27-year-old has been unable to make his mark under Michael Carrick due to fitness concerns.

He came off the bench in the closing stages of the win again Man City, before being left on the sidelines against Arsenal, and missed the following three games.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that United now feel it may be best for Mount to move on when the next transfer window opens.

His ongoing fitness issues, which have proved problematic since his arrival in 2023, alongside a number of inconsistent displays mean they are prepared to move him on.

Man United plan to accept Mason Mount offer

Brown told Football Insider last year that Man United were open to offers for Mount, who had been pushed down the pecking order by Matheus Cunha’s arrival.

While Amorim opted to keep the attacking midfielder at the club, United’s stance is not expected to have changed, and they are now prepared for him to move on.

Man United will be open to offers for Mount if they come in,” Brown told Football Insider.

“I don’t think it’s any slight on him, everybody I speak to at Man United speaks very highly of him, but his injury record doesn’t stand up.

“It’s been a problem since he first arrived and he never really seems to have gotten over it, he’ll come back in for a couple of games, then he’ll be out again.

“I’m not convinced he’s part of the club’s plans for the future at this stage, because of those injuries, and when he has played he hasn’t exactly set the world alight.

“He’s hardly played under Michael Carrick because of those injuries as well.

“It’s a shame because as I say, he’s spoken about very highly at Man United, but they’re prepared to move him on and that might allow them to get somebody else in.”

Marcus Rashford closes in on Man United exit

Mount is not the only player who could be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, with major changes expected to take place both with incoming and outgoing players.

Marcus Rashford is widely expected to complete a permanent move away from Man United, as he hopes to extend his stay at Barcelona beyond the end of the season.

Despite some concerns, Football Insider revealed that Barcelona’s elections will not impact Rashford’s future, with the club still keen to bring him in.

Rashford’s performances for Barcelona mean Hansi Flick is keen to keep him beyond the end of his loan spell as he has become an important part of the side.

Despite potential changes at the very top of the club, there is expected to be little impact on Rashford, who is expected to play a key part in any success they enjoy.
