Man United plan to accept offer for star player after he left Ruben Amorim ‘fuming’
Man United are planning to let Casemiro leave at the end of his contract if they can’t sell him in January, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 33-year-old has no future in Ruben Amorim‘s plans.
Casemiro was sent off during Man United’s 2-1 win against Chelsea, and has since been branded “selfish” and “stupid” for picking up an avoidable second yellow card.
Interest from Saudi Pro League clubs could see Casemiro reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr amid claims he will be tempted by the money on offer.
With less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, United are keen to shift his wages off the bill, as “the time has come” for him to move on.

Man United plan to let Casemiro leave amid Saudi interest
Brown told Football Insider in February that Casemiro’s decision to stay at Man United was a “huge blow”, with his £300,000 weekly wage labelled “scandalous”.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, insisted that the midfielder will finally be moved on in the summer if not in January.
“The time has come for Casemiro to move on,” he told Football Insider.
“If Man United get an offer for him which suits them, they could decide to cash in, but otherwise I hear it’s likely he’ll be allowed to leave for free.
“At his age, with the money he’s earning, it wouldn’t make sense to keep him around.
“There’s been interest in him from the Saudi Pro League, and I think that’s probably a move that will suit him at this stage.
“I think his performances have shown that he shouldn’t have much of a long-term future at United, especially after what he did against Chelsea.
“He should have enough brains to know that he’s on a yellow card and in danger of getting another one, so he can’t afford to make that challenge.
“So he’s put his team and the result in jeopardy and he should know better with the experience he’s got, it was a really stupid decision to make.
“Some of those Chelsea players could start a fight in an empty room, but he can’t get sucked into making challenges like that, it’s selfish and he’s not thinking about the team.
“Amorim will have been fuming with him, and rightly so because he could have cost them the win.”
Casemiro has remained an important part of Amorim’s plans this season given the lack of quality in midfield, but doubts are growing about his future at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim ‘fuming’ at Casemiro after Man United v Chelsea
Man United looked like they were cruising to victory against Chelsea after Robert Sanchez’s red card, before Casemiro saw red shortly before half-time.
Amorim is believed to have been left fuming with the midfielder, who could have cost United a vital three points by picking up a needless red card with his team on top.
It is not the first time Casemiro has been slammed for seeing red, leading to further questions about his long-term position in United’s first-team plans.

Jamie Carragher‘s famous “leave the football before the football leaves you” line was aimed at the Brazilian during the 2023-24 season, and over a year later, he remains a Man United player.
However, having angered the manager and with less than a year remaining on his contract, the midfielder is finally likely to leave the Premier League for good in the near future.
