‘Man United plan to sign the world’s best young talent’
Man United are planning to sign the best young talent from across the world to bolster their squad, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that there is a “clear plan” in place to recruit younger options.
Football Insider revealed in November that United are planning to sign young gems and help them develop into superstars amid interest in Sunderland’s Chris Rigg.
Since the summer transfer window, they have signed 17-year-old Diego Leon, 18-year-olds Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven, and 20-year-old Patrick Dorgu.
Ruben Amorim’s squad also features the likes of 19-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, 20-year-old Alejandro Garnacho, 21-year-old Toby Collyer and 22-year-olds Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund.
However, Brown warned that the club must ensure they find a balance between youth and experience, and insisted the players must be good enough to make an immediate impact.
Man United plan to sign top young stars under Ruben Amorim
The January transfer window proved frustrating for Amorim’s side as they were unable to strengthen in key positions beyond Dorgu’s arrival, but new plans have now been put in place.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also spent time at the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa, insisted that United could set themselves up for “five or six years” with the signings of top young players.
“Man United are always looking to sign the best talent from around the world,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ve signed the kid from Arsenal, the young centre-back.
“Then you’ve got Yoro there who’s only 18, the new left-back is only 20 and they’ve signed the boy from Paraguay as well.
“When you look around the team, there’s a clear plan to bring younger players in and help them develop to become part of the first-team.
“You see it from the academy as well with players like Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho in the team.
“Bringing in these players for the future is always a positive because it sets you up for maybe five or six years rather than having to spend tonnes of money every window.

“The problem is, the players you bring in need to be good enough, because in two or three years time you then have to replace older players in the team like Bruno Fernandes.
“So you’re relying on these young players to step up, but they need to find the balance between experience and youth.“
