Man United player ratings vs Burnley: Maguire dazzles, 2/10 awful

Man United threw away another late lead at Old Trafford after drawing 1-1 with Burnley on Saturday afternoon (27 April).

Antony broke the deadlock in the second half for the hosts, but Vincent Kompany’s side drew level through a late Zeki Amdouni penalty.

The Red Devils remain sixth in the Premier League table – six points behind Tottenham in fifth.

PLAYER RATINGS

Andre Onana [7]

United continued to leak chances and shots but Onana stood strong with six saves during the match including a stunning instinctive stop to deny the visitors on the brink of half time. However, the Cameroon international threw away another clean sheet by conceding a late penalty.

Diogo Dalot [5]

Did well in an unorthodox left-back position but struggled to create chances with a few loose touches. Clearly uncomfortable using his left foot which made him far too predictable in the final third. Composed on the ball and only lost possession five times.

Harry Maguire [8]

Transformed. Quickly becoming one of the first names on United’s team sheet – no-one saw this coming. Maguire continued his fine form after scoring in his last two games. He was composed on the ball and dominant in the air. Ended the match having won 100 percent of his aerial duels.

Casemiro [5]

A short-term fix for United’s centre-back crisis. His passing range and composure on the ball help United play out from the back but Casemiro still has the tendency to jump into a challenge and leave the defence vulnerable.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka [3]

West Ham

Offered nothing going forward and, together with Antony, United’s right flank looked incredibly blunt. Wan-Bissaka looked scared to shoot in the final third and ended up wasting multiple opportunities. A move for a new right-back this summer looks inevitable with Wan-Bissaka struggling to contribute offensively.

Kobbie Mainoo [6]

Lit up the first half of the match with a handful of remarkable touches and passes. However, Mainoo faded after the break and looked desperately in need of a rest.

Christian Eriksen [6]

Handed back-to-back starts in the Premier League for the first time since January. Eriksen adds an aura of calmness to this United side when in possession, but he is too easily beaten and dribbled past in the heart of midfield. Nowhere near the player he was.

Antony [5]

Man United

After a lively start, it seemed Antony’s nightmarish run in front of goal would continue with a handful of chances missed. However, the Brazilian redeemed himself with a late winner which was his second league goal at Old Trafford since his £85million move.

Bruno Fernandes [6]

A captain in red-hot form. Fernandes was once again at the epicentre of almost every chance created for United. The Portuguese playmaker carved out three big chances and completed 80 percent of his passes but was denied an assist by a wasteful front three.

Alejandro Garnacho [3]

Wasteful and greedy. United’s young gem is clearly full of confidence but is too keen to put his name up in lights and it cost his side here. Garnacho ended the match having lost possession 12 times against the Clarets.

Rasmus Hojlund [2]

Man United

Isolated and starved of service. The young Dane continued to make darting runs into the box but neither Garnacho or Antony ever looked interested in finding him. However, Hojlund’s first touch is often sloppy and he needs to find a way of getting more involved in games after having just 14 touches here.

SUBSTITUTES

Scott McTominay [6] – Thrown on to chase a winning goal. McTominay made his trademark late runs into the box but wasn’t presented a clear-cut chance during his short cameo.

Amad Diallo [5] – Struggled to have an impact in the match but his pace caused danger when United looked to counter attack.

Sofyan Amrabat [] – Came on late to replace Eriksen and protect the lead before Onana conceded the penalty.

Mason Mount [] – N/A.
