Man United set sights on signing three defenders with big reputations – sources
Manchester United are interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite, Gleison Bremer and Jean-Clair Todibo as they look to bolster their central defensive options this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed bringing in a marquee centre-back is one of the key priorities as the INEOS regime looks to stamp its authority on the Man United squad.
Branthwaite, 21, is believed to be the Red Devils’ top defensive target after Football Insider revealed Old Trafford chiefs have made signing the Everton defender a priority this summer.
O’Rourke revealed Juventus star Bremer, 27, has been on Man United’s radar for some time, while they have also sent scouts to watch another big name, Todibo, 24, in action for Nice, who are part-owned by INEOS.
Branthwaite and Todibo are under contract until 2027, with Bremer’s deal running until 2028.

Football Insider first revealed in March the defensive trio make up a three-man shortlist to join Man United this summer as Rafael Varane is set to leave the club and speculation continues around Harry Maguire’s future.
Branthwaite has drawn the attention of multiple top clubs following several impressive performances since breaking into the Everton team last season.
The Red Devils are monitoring the England international’s situation after Football Insider revealed on 21 May the Toffees will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of this month to help balance the books.
O’Rourke suggested Bremer is also firmly on the radar at Old Trafford after the club have sent scouts to watch the Brazilian for Juventus, where he started in all 40 of his appearances last season.
Todibo also remains a potential target for Man United, but a transfer for the Frenchman could be difficult to pull off after Football Insider revealed in March senior figures at Nice are prepared to block any deal from taking place this summer.
