Man United plotting to sign two more Sporting stars after Gyokeres news- sources

Man United could pursue deals for Sporting CP centre-back duo Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Incoming boss Ruben Amorim prefers to play with three centre-backs and could dip into the transfer market to add more familiar options after arriving at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese boss, who starts work on 11 November, has promised not to raid Sporting in January – but things could change for next year’s summer window.

Football Insider revealed last week (1 November) Man United could tempt Viktor Gyokeres to join the club even without Champions League football.

Amorim’s appointment as the next United manager could give them the edge in the race to sign the Sweden international – who has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, sources say both Diomande and Inacio will form part of the shortlist for United if they enter the market for a new centre-back.

Amorim will assess the squad and the current crop of defensive options when he arrives in Manchester after completing his duties with Sporting.

Man United keen on Diomande and Inacio deals

Diomande is just 20 years old but already has huge experience in the Portuguese top flight and Champions League.

The eight-cap Ivory Coast international has played 67 times for the Sporting senior side under Amorim.

Meanwhile, Inacio is a long-term target for United and is a fully-fledged Portugal international at 23.

He has made 186 appearances for Sporting – all of which have come under Amorim.

Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt are the current first-choice centre-back pairing, with Harry Maguire, Johnny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro in reserve.
