Man United ‘pull the plug’ on new signing, Michael Carrick ‘impressed’ by player he’d replace
Man United are cooling their interest in signing a new goalkeeper both now and ahead of the summer transfer window and will focus on other positions.
This comes as a result of Senne Lammens‘ recent performances, with the 23-year-old having grown into the role despite doubts when he first arrived.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Michael Carrick has been impressed by Lammens during his two games in charge.
The goalkeeper earned high praise for his role in Man United’s 3-2 win against Arsenal and has cooled the interest in a potential new addition.
Instead, Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this month that Carrick is prioritising signing a left-winger as he hopes to bolster his squad.

Man United pleased with Senne Lammens’ progress
Brown told Football Insider in October that Man United were happy with Lammens’ progress, and he is continuing to go from strength to strength at Old Trafford.
The goalkeeper has been compared to United legend David de Gea, who was also doubted upon his arrival before making major improvements during his time there.
“Lammens has done very well over the last few games,” Brown told Football Insider.
“Since he’s come in, he’s brought a measure of calmness and composure and done everything asked of him in a position where there was great instability.
“He’s now coming to claim crosses, he’s getting better and better at that, and he makes some blinding saves at times, he’s becoming a very good goalkeeper.
“It was noticeable against Arsenal that he was coming out, giving some reassurance to the back line and claiming crosses to ease the danger.
“Michael Carrick will have been very impressed by what he’s seen over these two games.
“United’s goalkeepers were costing them a goal per game over the last couple of season, but he’s come in and stopped that from being a problem.

“He reminds me in a way of David de Gea, when he first came in he looked a big shaky but he’s got better and better the more he’s played.
“So I think, for now at least, any suggestions of signing a new goalkeeper will be put on the back burner, it’s not something that’s a priority any more.”
Casemiro has decided his next club
Despite a shortage of activity from Man United so far this month, the club confirmed Casemiro is set to depart upon the expiry of his contract.
Brown told Football Insider on 27 January that Casemiro has already decided his next club after the confirmation that he would be leaving Old Trafford.
The midfielder will have turned 34 by the end of the season and is eyeing a final big payday with a move to the Saudi Pro League already lined up.

With just six months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, the Brazil international if free to discuss terms and potential reach a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.
Saudi clubs have been long-term admirers of his after Brown told Football Insider in October that Saudi Pro League sides wanted Casemiro and were readying offers.
