Finance guru: Man United ‘racking up the deals’ as £10m-plus windfall banked
Man United have likely banked in excess of £10million for their latest commercial deal with Qualcomm.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the deal was announced last Thursday (4 August).
The package is described as a “multi-year deal” and will be used to promote the technology firm’s Snapdragon central processing unit brand.
United have 23 global partners in total and raked in £275m in commercial income during the last non-Covid financial year.
The Red Devils’ performance on the pitch has slumped in recent years, with the club having now not won a trophy since 2017.
Plumley explains that the club’s continued ability to strike “blue-chip” commercial deals is a testament to their brand.
“United continue to rack up the deals,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It’s tough to estimate a price. There are not many deals like this for comparative prices. We are talking millions for a club like Man United, but that is likely to be tens of millions rather than hundreds of millions.

“This is based on what they can get out of it from an engagement point of view and what they can do with that information they get from their global fanbase.
“It’s not something that’s there in every single club at the moment. The industry still sees Man United as a blu-chip sponsor despite the problems on the pitch.”
