Man United ready to accept big-name offer – ‘Amorim never wanted him’
Man United are expected to be active in this summer’s transfer window as they look to give Ruben Amorim the chance to put his stamp on the squad.
Amorim arrived at Old Trafford in November 2024 and was given just one signing in the January transfer window – left-back Patrick Dorgu.
One player who could be sacrificed to free up much-needed transfer funds is Rasmus Hojlund – with The Guardian reporting (22 April) United could accept just £30million for the striker.
Hojlund has struggled to score regular goals since joining from Atalanta for a fee of £72million after add-ons in 2023.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Danish striker was “never the player Amorim wanted”.

Hojlund sale will ‘come home to roost’ for Man United, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted another big loss for Man United will “come home to roost” for the cash-strapped club.
They are winning the race for the Matheus Cunha – who has a £62.5million release clause in his contract with Wolves.
United could yet boost their budget by qualifying for the Champions League via victory in the Europa League later this month.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Hojlund is yet another signing which will come home to roost for Man United.
“Hojlund will do a job for another club, but he was never Amorim’s pick, never the player he wanted.
“They will have to take a big loss on him.
“But that will come home to roost for the club – and that’s the issue they’ve got and they have had for some time in terms of PSR.”

Casemiro exit latest after Amorim U-turn
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (28 April) that Casemiro is also still likely to exit Man United this summer despite Amorim changing his mind on the veteran midfielder.
The 33-year-old has been one of United’s better performers in recent weeks and months after being sidelined in Amorim’s early tenure at Old Trafford.
However, sources say United will have to consider parting with the Brazil international if a good offer arrives for his services.
