‘Man United ready to agree player-plus-cash Viktor Gyokeres deal’
Man United have been strongly linked with Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres since Ruben Amorim swapped the Portuguese giants for Old Trafford last year.
Gyokeres, 26, became one of the world’s leading strikers under Amorim‘s tutelage and is widely reported to be available for around £60million this summer.
Football Insider revealed on 29 April that Man United are ready to sign an out-and-out striker as well as Wolves star Matheus Cunha.
The two deals are likely to be a strain on finances at United – who could run into problems with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) after a lack of recent success.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Man United are likely to look to a “player-plus-cash” swap in order to strike a deal with Sporting for Gyokeres.

Man United will want Gyokeres swap deal, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Amorim is in a position to know where Sporting need improvements after his successful time at the club.
Gyokeres has hit 52 goals and notched 12 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions this term.

When asked if United could afford the striker’s £60million price tag, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It is a big number.
“The tie to Amorim seems quite important in this deal, but I think if it were to be done – there will be some sort of player swap involved as well.
“I think it could be some money plus a player. Zirkzee, Hojlund – they are a couple who could be sent the other way.
“That’s the financial top-up they need to get this transaction done, player plus cash.
“I think Amorim would be prepared to do that. He’s obviously a very good judge of what Sporting will want.
“Whether it’s a forward, a midfielder or a defender – I think it will be a player-plus-cash swap.
“Cash is an issue right now for Man United.”

Major update on Mount’s Man United future
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed that Amorim is still counting on Man United high earner Mason Mount to have a future at the club.
The 26-year-old has recently returned from a long-term injury layoff and has been ramping up his involvement.
Mount is currently on a contract worth £250,000-a-week or £13million per year – with that deal set to run until June 2028.
