‘Man United ready to sell five stars in £175m fire sale’

Man United are counting the cost of their Europa League final loss – which means no European football at Old Trafford next term for the first time in over 10 years.

The Red Devils are expected to sell players to make up the shortfall in prize money – as well as to fund their own transfer business in the summer window.

Ruben Amorim is widely reported to have already decided the future of winger Alejandro Garnacho, who was publicly fuming after being omitted from the starting squad against Tottenham in Bilbao.

According to the Daily Mail (27 May), Amorim gave Garnacho a “brutal dressing down” in recent days – telling the Argentina international “he’d better pray” he can find a new club.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the 20-year-old could be one of five potential exits at Man United this summer.

Garnacho has reportedly been earmarked for sale at Man United.

Garnacho will fetch Man United ‘£50-60m’, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he believes Man United could raise up to £150-175million in player sales.

Amorim’s side will play significantly fewer games in the 2025-26 campaign as they will not compete in Europe.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “This is where we’ll see some potential cash for Man United.

“I think there could actually be four or five players going, but I believe Garnacho alone will bring in £50-60million.

“There will be a market for him. He’s a talent, but he obviously needs to be managed correctly. He doesn’t seem easy to manage.

“He would do well in Spain, there have been rumours of Atletico Madrid, and PSG are looking at him as well.

“As I say, there will be others. I think they could raise £150-175million in sales this summer.

“That will go a long way in terms of a rebuild on the player side.”

Man United ready to sell striker duo

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 20 May that Man United are ready to sell Joshua Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund to make way for top striker target Liam Delap.

Both Zirkzee, 23, and Hojlund, 22, have been inconsistent since arriving at Man United and Delap will get the starting spot if his arrival is finalised.

Matheus Cunha is set to join United from Wolves but will play in a wide role under Ruben Amorim.
