Man United facing nightmare scenario as major transfer worries emerge

Man United could be in for a difficult summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim desperately aims to bolster his ranks.

After guiding the Red Devils to a woeful 15th-place finish last season, the former Sporting boss has to recruit well this summer.

The North West club have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, but Tottenham could beat Man United to Bryan Mbeumo.

Meanwhile, striker Viktor Gyokeres favours a move to Arsenal over Amorim’s side, having enjoyed a prolific season with Sporting.

Man United ‘concern’ emerges amid transfer activity

The likes of Brentford winger Mbeumo would strengthen an otherwise misfiring Old Trafford outfit ahead of next season.

He notched an impressive return of 20 goals and seven assists in 38 Premier League outings for the Bees last season.

However, speaking live on talkSPORT [15 June], Tony Cascarino expressed his concern that the Red Devils could struggle to get deals over the line.

He said: “This is the real concern for Man United fans.

“They might not get who they want, and they might not get who they want out of the club out. They’ve got two problems, one compounds the other.”

Amorim’s Manchester United future will be decided by transfer window

The Red Devils’ poor performances in the Premier League, coupled with their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, show that the current crop of Man United players have not taken to Amorim’s methods well.

In an ideal world for the North West giants, the 40-year-old would have arrived ahead of a new season, as opposed to midway through a campaign which was already faltering under former boss Erik ten Hag.

However, Amorim has not worked well with the resources at his disposal so far, with several players seemingly struggling to adjust to his somewhat unique wing-back system.

The former Sporting boss, meanwhile, remains insistent on sticking with his system regardless of the consistently poor results yielded at Old Trafford since his arrival.

Therefore, as alluded to by Cascarino, if Amorim fails to both recruit well and effectively offload his assets this summer, the Red Devils could find themselves in a world of hurt, which could even cost the 40-year-old his job in the early phases of next campaign.
