‘Man United set for £14m+ blow as another sponsor terminates deal’
Manchester United are facing a blow in excess of £14million as another sponsor is set to terminate its deal at Old Trafford.
The Premier League side agreed a multi-year partnership with Marriott International – the world’s largest hotel company – in 2019.
Marriott has now decided not to extend the sponsorship deal after it expired at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it’s more concerning Tezos hasn’t renewed its deal at Old Trafford.
Man United agreed a multi-year deal for their training kit with the blockchain platform in 2022, but it’s also set to expire at the end of this month and a new partnership hasn’t been confirmed by the club.
United posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million in 2023-24, but they recorded a net loss of £113.2million.
Meanwhile, their commercial revenue stood at £302.9million.

Man United in ‘surprising’ situation after deal terminated
Borson insisted United’s deal with Tezos is likely to be worth more than £14million.
He told Football Insider: “Of more concern than Marriott actually is the training kit sponsor Tezos.
“That’s their crypto and training kit sponsor that expires this week, so it is slightly surprising that they haven’t yet announced a replacement sponsor for what is quite a valuable contract.
“That’s probably worth more than $20million (£14.7million), so that’s more meaningful and obviously having no Europe possibly impacts that negotiation.
“We know that sponsorship market remains quite tough at the moment. We only need to look at the situation with Chelsea, which still goes on. The front of shirt saga.
“They have now qualified for the Champions League, which was said to be the big reason why they didn’t have a front-of-shirt sponsor.
“They still haven’t got one and still haven’t announced anything. They have got a blank shirt at the Club World Cup, which again is slightly surprising.
“I think the sponsorship market is quite tough at the moment and it’s probably not a brilliant time for Manchester United to be out of all of Europe when you’re renegotiating all of these contracts.
“So, there are a few gaps in the account.”

Man United’s updated stance on signing Hugo Ekitike revealed
In terms of matters on the pitch, Football Insider revealed on 17 June United are unlikely to pursue a summer deal for Hugo Ekitike despite his form for Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga club want close to £85million for the France Under-21 international, and Ruben Amorim’s side can’t afford a deal at that price.
Frankfurt are not in a position where they must sell Ekitike this summer and are able to hold out for that figure.
The 23-year-old registered 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances in the 2024-25 season.
