Man United set for £200m transfer boost and there’s more to come – Kieran Maguire
Man United could generate £200million in revenue every season if they build a new 90,000-capacity stadium.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the revenue generated from a new stadium would make the Red Devils a powerhouse in the transfer market.
United announced earlier this month (8 March) that a task force has been assembled to lead a regeneration project of the Old Trafford area.
The project could include a new £2billion stadium adjacent to Old Trafford.
United earned a record-breaking matchday revenue of £136million in their 2022-23 accounts – that figure would rise significantly at a new, expanded stadium.
Man United stadium project will provide £200m boost
Maguire explained that United are already ahead of their Premier League rivals in terms of revenue generation and could increase their advantage with a new stadium.
“Manchester United made £136million in 2022-23 from matchday income – that is the highest in the Premier League by a considerable margin,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There’s only a couple of other clubs – Tottenham and Arsenal – that are able to generate over £100million.
“However, there’s no reason why a new stadium with a capacity of around 90,000 could not be generating close to £200million a year.
“With the squad control cap rules that would make Manchester United very competitive in the transfer market.

“The interest from loans would be excluded from the squad costs so that would help Manchester United as well.
“So you can see the financial benefits and also potentially to the surrounding area.“
