Man United sources: Ten Hag sack update today

Erik ten Hag faces no “immediate sack threat” at Man United despite their early season struggles, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-time champions suffered their second defeat of the season on Sunday (1 September) as they were humiliated by their rivals Liverpool in a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

This has led to speculation that Ten Hag is under new threat of dismissal only months after avoiding the sack and being handed a new contract.

It is believed from United sources that the 54-year-old will be given until the end of November and early December to turn the team around.

Even though the Premier League giants currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, he will not be sacked during the international break.

United owners INEOS have backed Ten Hag in the transfer market, and they are now prepared to give him time to work with marquee new signings like Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs De Ligt, and Joshua Zirkzee.

United will face Southampton on the 14th September when Premier League football returns after the upcoming international fixtures.

Erik ten Hag must start finding better results to secure his future

United conducted a season review at the end of the previous campaign to assess whether or not Ten Hag would remain in the dugout for the 2024-25 season.

The Premier League giants also spoke with former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel before deciding on keeping Ten Hag.

The Dutchman was rewarded with a one-year contract extension which runs until 2026.

Man United

United have already suffered defeats to Brighton and Liverpool this season, with their only win coming courtesy of an 87th-minute goal against Fulham on the opening day.

With a -3 goal difference and only three points out a possible nine, there is now early-season pressure after the club finished eighth in the 2023-24 campaign.
