Man United stadium twist will go down ‘very badly’ with public – Stefan Borson
Man United being subsidised by the taxpayer to build a new stadium would go down “very badly” with the wider public.
That is the view of financial expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Premier League giants and the local council are expected to have lots of discussions on this project.
It was recently reported that local councils have agreed to work with the club to ensure the area surrounding the ground will benefit any plans for redevelopment.
This partnership will help to enhance the wider area rather than just focusing on the benefits that it would bring to United.
5,000 new homes are set to be included in the Trafford Wharfside area, bringing more people to the area as connections between other parts of Manchester are set to improve.
Man United and the council will be undergoing conversations
“I suspect there’s a lot going on in the background between the council and United,” Borson told Football Insider.
“I’m not sure when we will learn about the full details but clearly, there’s a lot of conversations going on, and clearly, the council are very keen to have United develop the area.
“That’s what we would expect.
“United’s only challenge is any discovery from the outside world that the taxpayer has effectively subsidised United, which would go down very badly.

“But in terms of general discussion and assistance from the local council especially for infrastructure, you can expect a lot of that to happen.
“The one thing you can say about Ratcliffe and his team is they’re getting on with things, they’re spending money.”
