Man United star Rhys Bennett agrees to join new club – sources

Man United defender Rhys Bennett has agreed a loan move to Fleetwood Town, sources have told Football Insider.

He is currently undergoing a medical at the League Two club after agreeing the terms of a season-long loan move.

The central defender, 20, featured for United in pre-season, but he is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Bennett had a spell on loan at Stockport last season and he is now set for another loan stint at Fleetwood.

The young defender played 145 minutes for his boyhood club throughout their pre-season tour of the USA but is yet to feature for the senior team in a competitive game.

Bennett only played a single game for Stockport County during his six-month loan last season, featuring in their heavy 4-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers in February.

Following the signings of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, Bennett is going to find first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Man United still have business to do before the August 30th transfer deadline day.

Football Insider revealed (August 28) that Manuel Ugarte is undergoing a Man United medical on Tuesday after the club had a £50million bid accepted.
