Medical expert: Raphael Varane may have ‘new’ injury after cryptic Man United reveal
Raphael Varane may have picked up a “new” injury – but it is hard to confirm while Man United “hold their cards so close to their chest”.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Varane, 28, missed United’s 1-0 defeat at Everton last Saturday (9 April) and it is unclear if he will return against Norwich City tomorrow (16 April).

Speaking in his press conference on the eve of the Everton loss, Ralf Rangnick revealed that “Rapha is still injured” but gave no other details.
The French centre-back did suffer a minor foot issue on international duty last month but played in the following two games for club and country.
Dinnery suspects that this latest setback could be a different problem.
“It’s difficult to say with this one,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“He picked up the first injury playing for France but then returned for the following international friendly and was fit for the next domestic fixture.
“Foot injuries are easily picked up, especially when you consider how boots are made these days. It doesn’t take a lot to get an impact injury.
“We can’t categorically state that it is the same problem because it could quite easily be something else. I suspect that might be the case.
“United tend to play their cards so close to their chest in terms of the information divulged.
“However, if it is just a minor impact injury, we could see him back in the squad this weekend.”

Varane signed for United from Real Madrid in a £34million switch last summer.
He has featured 25 times in a season punctuated by various soft tissue injuries.
