Man United star who Rio Ferdinand loves hands Ruben Amorim boost ahead of Man City

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has received a major boost ahead of the first Manchester derby of the season.

Amorim is under pressure at Man United after a stuttering start to the season following just one win from their opening three Premier League matches.

Man United lost to Grimsby to be humiliatingly knocked out of the League Cup on penalties against fourth-tier opposition.

Star signing Benjamin Sesko has yet to score, and Amorim will face a tough task defeating rivals Manchester City next.

Casemiro returns to training ahead of Man City clash

Amorim though has received a piece of good fortune before the Manchester derby and midfielder Casemiro.

As per the Daily Mail [9 September], Casemiro has arrived back to Man United early after representing Brazil on international duty.

The 33-year-old was given permission to return to England instead of staying put in South America as due to suspension he would have been unable to feature in Brazil’s match against Bolivia.

Casemiro was booked during a 3-0 win over Chile which keeps Brazil on course for World Cup qualification.

Having started all of Man United’s league games so far, Casemiro has built up a partnership in midfield alongside captain Bruno Fernandes which will be instrumental to beating Man City.

What Rio Ferdinand has said about Casemiro

Former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand has previously been an admirer of Casemiro, and will be delighted that the midfielder will be ready for the clash at the Etihad.

Speaking on TNT Sports in May during Man United’s 3-0 Europa League win over Athletic Club, Ferdinand claimed Casemiro is still a key part of the team.

“I don’t think Casemiro has put a foot wrong,” Ferdinand said.

“He’s been sensational tonight. He has been so disciplined. People have been talking about getting rid of him, his legs have gone etcetera.

“But I tell you what, he’s come to the fore when they have needed him.

“He’s coaching this team through this and it’s a massive moment in the season for them.”

Casemiro has spent three seasons at the club helping them win the League Cup and FA Cup.
