Man United stars slammed by pundit after journalist’s manager hunt update – ‘100 per cent’
Kevin Phillips has told Man United players to forget their club’s search for a new manager and focus on finishing in the top four.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Sunderland and England striker insisted the squad should be “100 per cent” focused on themselves and not what is going on behind the scenes.
According to Andy Mitten, writing in The National News (24 March), some players are taking a keen interest in the club’s search for a new manager.

They are said to be already be asking who will be in charge next season.
As per Sky Sports (24 March), the Red Devils have interviewed Erik ten Hag with a view to him replacing interim boss Ralf Rangnick in the summer.
When asked for his assessment of the players’ interest, Phillips told Football Insider: “Players will naturally do that.
“They always have one eye on who is going to be managing them at the start of the next season.
“But their sole focus should be on playing for their club, their current manager and getting the results to get them into the Champions League. They have a tough task to do so.

“It would certainly make life a lot easier for the new manager if they got into the top four.
“They need to focus on sorting that dressing room out between them. It’s imperative that they find consistency between now and the end of the season. That should be their focus. 100 per cent.”
